Is it just me, or has the price of truss rods skyrocketed? I just looked at Allied and LMI for the 1/4" wide double-acting rod...$16.50 at Allied and $23.50 at LMI!  I know, order several and get the price break, but at my current rate of building I don't want to have a bunch sitting around when JC comes back!

If you can buy 6 at a time Allied's are $9.50 and 12 or more are $7.50 These are basically the same design as LMI TRSD double acting. I prefer the LMI but at the price these are pretty darn good. |

Hi Michael, yes, I'll probably break down and order 6 of the Allieds...I still can't account for 2 of them that I thought were in the shop, so I guess I need to clean the place! Maybe ordering the rods will bring 6 commissions!

Larry, Check out Stew-Mac's Hot Rods. They cost a bit less and are very well built. |

Carlton I love the Hot Rods but they don't fit my 1/4 x 3/8 slots in the necks That John Watkins makes. |

Yeah, I think you need a 7/32" slot for the Hot Rod. Bummer! I sure do like their quality, though, and it doesn't hurt that they cost less than other 2-ways. |

Anybody experimented with NO truss rod? The last two OO with 24.9 scale 12th fret to body,I used .125 x .375 carbon fiber stock, 2 in one neck and 3 in the other. Guitars are only 2 months old, no problems yet. |
